GENERAL
PURPOSE FTZs
IMS Worldwide, Inc. has been active in the FTZ Industry for nearly three decades. We assist Grantees, Zone Operators, Zone users and third-party logistics providers/brokers in defining the benefits of establishing the Zone and providing best-practices training and procedures that pass all audit requirements the first time. IMSW is an internationally recognized authority on the establishment, marketing and operation of Foreign-Trade Zones, providing sound advice, application and activation assistance to Grantees on coastal and inland ports nationwide.
IMS Worldwide’s signature approach stresses the importance of pre-marketing to the FTZ user and is the key to our record of successful FTZ projects. Of all General-Purpose FTZ projects that IMSW has been involved with, the activation ratio is over 85%! The nature of the industry indicates this level of success remarkably above standard - our FTZ projects work! They yield the desired results for the Grantee, industrial park developer and the Zone user.
IMS Worldwide pioneered the multi-site Zone concept for Foreign-Trade Zones. Established in Houston in 1981, this concept is now the "industry standard" in designing a successful Zone. Models of this type of Zone, recently completed in California, Ohio, New Jersey and Texas, are still proving the most viable concept. The beauty of this design is that the Grantee of a current Zone may choose to modify and re-organize along the "multi-site Zone" concept at any time.

SUBZONES
Through the establishment of Subzones, manufacturers and large-scale distributors can benefit from Foreign- Trade Zone status without being located within the physical boundaries of an established Zone. The Subzone is activated at a corporation’s distribution or manufacturing facility. This provides single-Zone users with the ability to benefit from the Foreign-Trade Zone status when an operation is too large to relocate within a nearby Zone, or if the nearest Zone has limited capacity. Literally any facility in the United States can now be designated a Foreign Trade Zone, if that facility meets the Federal requirements.
IMSW will work directly with your firm to assist you in evaluating the potential savings that may be garnered in moving your distribution and/or operations to a Foreign-Trade Zone, establishing a Sub-Zone of an existing FTZ, or applying to U.S. Customs for activated FTZ status. Now, even the third-party logistics facility can be considered a Subzone!
